Evaluate several considerations in support of this statement.

参考答案:
Sample answer:
Aquaculture is an important technology that allows many countries to be able to supply additional food to growing populations in areas that may not have access to natural fish stocks.
Some people cannot afford to buy fish, but those in areas where fish live wild can still gain this important source of protein through capture fisheries.
By replacing wild fish aquaculture allows natural fish stocks to recover.
We see that both practices are becoming more sustainable, for example through harvesting fish of the right size.
Capture fisheries also play an important cultural role for indigenous peoples globally, as seen in First Nations along the west coast of Canada and amongst the Bajau people in South East Asia.
With growing populations and, with it, a growing demand for food, drawing from both sources becomes more important.
In conclusion, both of these sources of food fish can be sustainably provided and meet the needs of a growing and changing population.

Capture fisheries: [3 max]
a. Natural fisheries hold cultural value for many indigenous people around the globe.
b. Natural fisheries provide food sources for even the most poor populations that live in proximity to aquatic ecosystems.
c. Sustainable wild fisheries such as those seen in Iceland are very successful in providing fish and maintaining wild stocks.
d. Continued sustainable harvest of some fish species will allow ecosystems to maintain their current balance.

Aquaculture: [3 max]
e. Provides a reliable source of fish protein because it can be controlled.
f. As an alternative to wild fisheries, aquaculture allows natural fish stocks to recover.
g. Aquaculture provides a source of food fish for many countries that might not have easy access to natural fish stocks.

Both: [3 max]
h. As technology continues to improve, both of these sources can become even more sustainable, cost-effective and efficient.
i. Both practices can provide employment to different socio-economic groups, contributing to the economies of different countries.
j. As populations increase, more options for good, in-expensive protein food sources will be important. Both of these can provide this.
k. Both can relieve pressure on agricultural land by providing food from aquatic systems or marginal lands.
l. The more sources of food fish we can rely on, the better able we are to adapt to the effects of climate change on both of these practices.
A judgement that is supported by previous statements: [1 max]
Example: By spreading the burden of food production on many different food production systems we have a better chance of making each of them sustainable.
Award max [6] if no supported judgement is given.
